Environmental studies focuses on human interaction with the environment and how we can move toward a sustainable future.

This interdisciplinary field explores how behavior, cultural variation and the function of our social, political and economic institutions both shape and are shaped by the natural world.

  • Our interdisciplinary program draws from the sciences, humanities, social sciences and art to address complex environmental issues.
  • We prepare students to work in a wide range of fields, including natural resource management, environmental education and policy, parks and outdoor recreation, environmental journalism and urban agriculture.
  • Our minor in environmental studies allows students in other majors to apply environmental issues to their discipline.
  • Topics covered in the include: biology, geology, oceanography, strategic communication, statistical methods and public administration
