Professor Aho was a faculty member at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ for eighteen years, from 1977-1995.

While at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ he had 14 scholarly articles published in refereed journals, and received a National Endowment for the Humanities Research Fellowship For College Teachers in 1983 to conduct research in Trinidad and Tobago, where he had previously taught for a year, and received several research grants from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳.

He served on several college committees at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳, chairing some, and was active in the community, organizing the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Heritage Association of RI in 1981, among other volunteer activities.

He brought to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ for performances a talented dance company from Trinidad and Tobago, and a famed calypso singer. ​​​​
