Who Participates in CCS Programs?

From adults with limited college experience looking to enter the workforce to post-graduate students and working professionals seeking advancement and new career specializations, a diverse group of people seek out our CCS programs. These programs consist primarily of courses and/or workshops earning continuing education units (CEUs), and not associated with undergraduate or graduate degrees at 香港六合论坛. Admission and retention requirements for CCS programs vary according to the training target audience and rage from minimal to highly selective.

How are CCS Programs Funded and What is the Cost for Participants?

CCS programs are often sponsored by state and government agencies and/or industry sector employers to address workforce development and industry sector employee training needs. CCS programs are not eligible for federal financial aid; however eligible adult students and/or sponsor employees are often able to participate at reduced or no cost.

Bookkeeping and Accounting

Teaches skills in manual and computerized accounting and bookkeeping functions.

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study
  • Eligibility Requirements: high school diploma or GED, passing a BCI background check, motivated to learn new skills and start in an entry level position

Bookkeeping and Accounting Plus

Prepares students needing English as a Second Language and/ or remediation classes for entry level clerical and bookkeeping positions with job titles such as accounting clerk, posting clerk, accounts receivable clerk, payroll clerk, or bookkeeper.

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study
  • Eligibility Requirements: high school diploma or GED, passing a BCI background check, motivated to learn new skills and start in an entry level position

Behavioral Health for Paraprofessionals

30-hour certificate created for front-line staff to develop behavioral health knowledge and skills with orientation to behavioral health including challenges, concepts and workplace application.

30-hour Certificate developed through employer partnerships introduces front-line healthcare workers to challenges, concepts and workplace applications of behavioral health.

Supplemental training for certified CHWs builds knowledge and skills in core competency areas established by 香港六合论坛B and RIDOH. Applicable to CHWs across the health care workforce.

Provides entry level training for CHWs who are non-native English speakers. Builds knowledge and skills in 9 competency areas.

Entry level curriculum in knowledge and skills to prepare specialized case managers and other direct service roles with the HIV/AIDS community

Interdisciplinary Studies for Assessment and Treatment of Trauma

Concentration on trauma-informed assessment, treatment and evaluation models, incorporating discussions of NCTSN鈥檚 Twelve Core Concepts of Trauma.

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study, 72 CEU credits: 1 class/month over 12-months
  • Eligibility Requirements: open to professionals at Master鈥檚 level and above of all degrees

Leadership Development for Health Care Professionals

Builds knowledge and skills in communication, team building, change, project and financial, quality improvement, employee engagement and performance measurement. Interactive training utilizes case studies, interactive role playing, brainstorming and self-assessment of leadership qualities/skills and development of a self-improvement plan. Program consists of 30 contact hours or 3.0 Continuing Education Unit

Medical Assistant Training

Training in clinical, clerical and administrative skills including HIPPA, first aid, CPR, reception, scheduling, medical terminology, charting, testing and basic pharmacology. A 20-week program: 15 weeks of classwork followed by a minimum 120 hour internship completed over 5-6 weeks. Ideal for unemployed, underemployed, and dislocated workers as well as students who are motivated to learn new skills and secure employment.

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study and CPR Certification
  • Eligibility Requirements: applicants 18 years or older, who have a high school diploma or equivalent, and can provide a RI BCI Background Check

Medical Assistant Training Plus (RI-Best)

Specialized program for ESOL speakers which combines ESOL support and additional English language instruction as well as training in clinical, clerical and administrative skills including HIPPA, first aid, CPR, reception, scheduling, medical terminology, charting, testing and basic pharmacology. 720 training hours (30hrs/week for 24 weeks) and 120 hour minimum internship. Ideal for unemployed, underemployed, and dislocated workers as well as students who are motivated to learn new skills and secure employment.

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study and CPR Certification
  • Eligibility Requirements: applicants 18 years or older with advanced ESOL skills, who have a high school diploma or equivalent

Medical Interpreter English/Portuguese

  • Portuguese/English Medical Interpreter Training course that includes US healthcare system knowledge, professional responsibility, interpreter ethics, cultural responsiveness, and medical terminology. Intensive practice of sight translation, consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. One semester, 120 hours.
  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study, 12 CEU鈥檚
  • Eligibility requirement: advanced fluency in Portuguese and English

Public Health & Equity Sign Language Interpreter Training Program

Public health sign language course that includes healthcare system knowledge and linguistic competency, integrates consumer-focused care as part of public healthcare teams, understanding of the intersection of justice, equity and social determinates of health and recognizes and addresses barriers to quality healthcare while applying evidence-based practices and ethical decision making. 9 months, 120 hours, week-long residency

  • Earn: Certificate of Continuing Study, 12 CEU鈥檚

Working with and Supporting Older Adults for Direct Service Workers Training

Knowledge and skills to work with older adults in areas of aging and society, healthy aging, and memory care Specialized training for community health workers and other direct care workers. Requires 72 contact hours or 7.2 Continuing Education Units
